Blepharitis

Blepharitis is characterized by chronic inflammation of the eyelids. It is one of the most common disorder of the eye and is often the underlying reason for eye discomfort, redness and tearing..

Three forms of Blepharitis:

* Staphylococcal – usually occurs in young age
* Seborrheic – occurs in older people with known ocular symptoms
* MGD(Meibomian Gland Dysfunction) - in older people with known ocular symptoms

All three forms of Blepharitis are chronic

Symptoms

* Staphylococcal – scaling and crusting along the eyelashes
* Seborrheic – greasy scaling along the eyelashes
* MGD - prominent blood vessels crossing the eyelid margin

Other symptoms:

* Burning
* Itching
* Light sensitivity
* Irritating sensation when waking up
