Home Remedy for Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea is the resulting sound caused by the vibration of the soft palate (the back part of the root of the mouth). The 2 factors that contribute to this activity are: the muscles that support the opening of the upper airway at the back of the throat relaxed during sleep, and the extra tissues in the palate and uvula (the flesh between the tonsils) vibrates with each breath. For some people the airway closes or narrows that causes noises or Sleep Apnea.

Symptoms of  Sleep Apnea

While sleeping, there is an occurrence of low to high pitch nasal noise. It may come in regular or irregular pattern and is accompanied by heavy breathing.

Causes of Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea occurs when the tongue and palate muscles relaxes and collapses together. The soft tissues of the tonsils and tongue change the quality of the sound that produces Sleep Apnea. The sleeping position of the patient affects the frequency of Sleep Apnea.

Any instance that contributes to blockage of air passages will cause Sleep Apnea. This includes sleeping or lying on your back, the tongue fall backwards towards the throat and blocks the airway; enlarged adenoids or tongue; and swollen nasal passages due to cold or allergy. For children, it is caused by enlarged tonsils and adenoids.

Aging affects the occurrence of Sleep Apnea. Older people snore for the muscle tone decreases as one age.

Drinking alcoholic beverages, taking certain medications and physical exhaustion may make a person snore heavily at sleep.
